‘Omvangrijk datalek gevonden bij groot IT-bedrijf Tech Data’

Onderzoekers van vpnMentor hebben een groot datalek gevonden bij Tech Data, het bedrijf dat IT-oplossingen en clouddiensten levert aan onder meer Apple, Microsoft, Samsung en Sony.

Uit het onderzoek van vpnMentor blijkt dat gegevens van bedrijven, klanten en werknemers zijn gelekt. Informatie waaronder e-mailadressen, creditcardnummers en onversleuteld opgeslagen logins en wachtwoorden waren openbaar inzichtelijk.

In totaal was er voor 264 GB aan informatie gelekt. De onderzoekers vonden het lek op 2 juni. Dezelfde dag nam vpnMentor contact op met Tech Data. Twee dagen later werd het lek gedicht.
